Bio

Albert August Wied was born October 24, 1921 in Garwood, Tx , the son of Adolf and Louise Wied. He took the hand of his Heavenly Father and went home to eternal rest on July 20, 2016. He grew up in Garwood and attended Garwood school. In 1942, he was called to serve his country in the US Army during World War II. He willingly and proudly accepted the call. After serving four years in the South Pacific and after earning numerous medals, he was honorable discharged. He never forgot the men he served with and when speaking of them later in life you could see a tear roll down his cheek. He returned home to marry the girl he left behind, Clara Mae Hubenak. In 1996, they celebrated 50 years of marriage and at the time of her death in 2013 they had been married 66 years. This union produced their only child, a son, Larry Albert Wied. He was employed as a field supervisor for Bass Enterprises for 40 years. Visitation will begin on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 2 PM with family receiving friends from 4-6 PM at Triska Funeral Home. A rosary will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 9:30 AM at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with a funeral mass following at 10 AM with Rev. Frances Nguyen officiating and assisted by Deacon Jarrel Nohavitza. Burial will be at Holy Cross Memorial Park with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post 251.
