Buford M. Richardson, 103, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016, in Fort Worth. Buford was born Aug. 31, 1912, in Temple to Goldie and James Harvey Richardson. He graduated from Southwest Texas State Teacher's College. He was a coach at Rockdale High School, then became a member of the Texas Highway Patrol. He moved to Fort Worth in 1944, and owned Texas Driving School until retirement. Buford was an avid sports fan and loved hunting, fishing and golf. He went on an African safari in 1970, and enjoyed sharing his many memories of that adventure. He was a member of Diamond Oaks Country Club where one of his greatest joys was playing golf with friends and later started the annual Buford's Old Folks' Tournament. He was an active member of Oakhurst Methodist Church and later Faith United Methodist. Buford's friends and family will always remember his sense of humor, strong character, independence, kindness and generosity. He will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors: Daughters, Janis Claborn of Azle, Linda Wetter of Conroe; grandchildren, Mike Claborn and wife, Laura, of Prosper, Jason Claborn of Irvine, Calif., Kaylyn Huerter and husband, Rodney, of Conroe and Greg Wetter and wife, Melanie, of Spring; six great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchldren; his sister, Mary Smith of Temple; and many nieces and nephews.
