Edward Henry Moravec was born in Omaha, Nebraska Dec. 7, 1884 to Joseph and Mary Moravec. His parents immigrated from Bohemia. He worked many years for Pittsburgh Plate & Glass Company, located at 14th and Jones in Omaha. In 1910, he had been married to Mary (Marie) for four years, and they had been blessed with three children. That year he was working as a packer for the glass company. His sister-in-law, Ethel Adamek, 14, was also living with them. Edward, Mary, Mary's sister, and the three children had all been born in Nebraska. The 1910 US Census lists: Edward Moravec, 26, head Mary Moravec, 23, wife Emma Moravec, 3, daughter William Moravec, 2, son Josie Moravec, 7 months, daughter Ethel Adamek, 14, sister-in-law Marie died in 1913, and as her parents were from Bohemia, she was buried in the Bohemian Cemetery. On September 12, 1918, Edward, a man of medium height and build, with grey eyes and light brown hair, walked into the World War I registration office. He was a laborer at Pittsburgh Plate & Glass, and his nearest relative was Joseph Moravek, who lived at 1413 Williams, Omaha. That year the family was living at 2701 S. 14th, Omaha. By time World War II came, Edward had to register again. His eyes were still gray, but his hair, too, was gray, and so was his complexion. He told the examiner that he was born in Omaha. He was 58 by now, and he was living at 1913 So. 10th, Apartment 4. Edward died October 20, 1970, and is buried in Calvary. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Omaha Archdiocese cemetery records; National Archives; kind assistance of FindaGrave volunteer Jason Cadek ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
