Belle Plaine News Belle Plaine, Kansas Thursday, October 25, 1923 page 1 Obituary - Mason. Elizabeth Parrett was born at Dora, Indiana, April 25th, A.D., 1846; died at her home in Belle Plaine, Kansas, Oct. 14, 1923, age 77 years, 5 months and 19 days. In the fall of 1871 she came with her two brothers, Fred and Pleasant Parrett, to Belle Plaine, Kas., where she settled on a government claim and where she made her home until March 1916 when she with her husband moved to town. Here she resided until her death. She was united in marriage to Thomas Mason, March 27, 1873. To this union three children were born - Willie, who died at the age of 18 months, and Minnie Etta and Charles Merrett. Besides her husband and two children, she leaves one brother, Fred Parrett, of Mulvane, Kans., one sister, Mrs. Sarah Mason, of Belle Plaine, Kans., six grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of friends and neighbors who mourn her departure. About 30 years ago she was baptized and united with the Church of Brethren at Conway Springs where she remained a devout member until her death. She was a devoted and faithful wife, a kind and loving mother, an ardent friend to all with whom she associated. Very positive and conscientious in her convictions, cheerful and energetic. As an invalid for three years she was patient, uncomplaining and hopeful to the end. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Oct. 17, at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Mr. Hostettler, of the Church of the Brethren, of Conway Springs. The floral offerings were beautiful. Burial took place at the local cemetery, attended by a large number of sympathizing friends.
