ORD — Lillian Osentowski, 95, of Ord passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Brookfield Park in St. Paul. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Josh Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Lillian was born Sept. 15, 1920, to John and Anna (Rejsek) Hrebec on the family farm in Custer County near Comstock. The family moved to the sand flats northeast of Ord. She attended rural school and Ord High School until the 10th grade, when she stayed on the farm to help her family during the Depression. At the age of 19, Lillian moved to Omaha, where she worked as a nurse’s aide, nanny and a seamstress at JC Penney. On May 31, 1947, Lillian was united in marriage to Edward R. Osentowski at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Scotia. The couple made their home on Ed’s family farm. In 1955, they moved into Ord, then returned to the farm in 1960. While living on the farm, Lillian raised their children and enjoyed helping with the Hereford cattle. In 1997, they retired and resided in Ord. Ed passed away in August of 2012. Lillian was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and was involved in 4-H when her kids were young. Lillian enjoyed the outdoors, farm work, animals, gardening and flowers. She was an excellent seamstress, cook and baker. She will be remembered for her delicious kolaches and plum dumplings. Survivors include a son, Tom of Ord; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Larry Kokes of Ord, Darlene and Mark Freeman of Burwell and Debra and Brian Featherstone of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Watson of Santa Rosa, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ed; a daughter, Janet Zabloudil; an infant brother; a brother, Oldrich Hrebec; and a sister, Bess Fryzek.
