Bio
Services were held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 6, 2004, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. McGonagill, 78, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at his home. Rev. Vic Fryofficiated at the services. Burial was with Military Graveside Honors. Mr. McGonagill was born May 23, 1925 in Dexter, New Mexico; the son of Alex George McGonagill and Julia Katherine (Cazier) McGonagill. He graduated from Artesia High School in 1942 and served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. On October 15, 1944 he was married to Verlee Opal Dudensing in Sagerton, Texas. He was a foreman and manager of Fair Oil Company, Newmont Oil Company and Yucca Water Flood and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Edwin McGonagill; a son-in-law Gregory Link; and by a niece Gail Ann Cuthbertson. Survivors include his wife Verlee Opal "Jonnie" McGonagill of the family home; a daughter Marilyn McGonagill Link of the home; a son Michael McGonagill and wife Candi of Chanhassen, Minn.; a brother Emery McGonagill and wife Lee of Artesia; grandsons Colin McGonagill and Patrick McGonagill both of Chanhassen; and sisters-in-law Mary Catherine McGonagill and Delores Cuthbertson and husband Cub all of Artesia.
