From Linda Duncan Miles This information was taken from his Death Certificate & Census records: Son of Tom Lee Tarpley and Maggie Thomas Tarpley He and wife Mallie had five children, one son, and 4 daughters. He was a farmer. The Bonham Daily Favorite Bonham, Texas Sunday, 03 Sep 1961, Page 2 Rites Are Held For Oscar Tarpley Funeral services for Oscar W. Tarpley, 72, who died in a Bonham hospital Friday morning, Sept. 1, 1961, following a brief illness, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Wise Funeral Home chapel. Dr. Cecil P. Sansom of Waco, a former Baptist pastor in Bonham, and the Rev. W. D. Swank, pastor of the Edhube Baptist church, officiated. Interment was in Arledge Ridge cemetery. Pallbearers were Arlan Purdy, Lloyd Stoddard, George Hilliard, Rueben Brown, Lenous Stroud and Leondard Thomas. Survivors were the widow, Mrs. Mallie Tarpley of the home on State Park Road; one son, Leroy Tarpley of Bailey; four daughters, Mrs. Marvin Scroggins of Bonham, Mrs. Edith Hollis of Sherman, Mrs. Grace Logan of Big Spring and Mrs. Katy Stone of Dallas; one brother, Bailey Tarpley of Bonham; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Shields of Culver City, Calif.; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. Tarpley, a native of Fannin county was a farmer but retired about 12 years ago.
