BROKEN BOW — Edna Camila Ptacnik, 98, of Broken Bow, formerly of Ord, died Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Broken Bow. The Rev. Jim Hunt will officiate. Burial will be at noon at the Catholic Cemetery in Ord. Govier Bros. Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Edna was born Jan. 12, 1918, in Valley County to Lew and Emma (Cernik) Smolik. She grew up in Ord and later graduated from Ord High School. Edna taught school in Valley County for four years. She married Leonard Ptacnik on June 12, 1939, at the Geranium Catholic Church in Valley County. They farmed in Valley County for 25 years before moving to Colorado Springs, Colo., and later to North Platte. Mr. Ptacnik died on June 5, 1983. Edna moved to Grand Island in 1985. She later moved to Broken Bow on Oct. 31, 2012. Edna enjoyed reading, cooking, quilting, gardening, flowers and crossword puzzles. Edna was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters Court Queen of Peace No. 2227, Quilting Ladies Group and Christian Mothers. Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Clifford) Klein of Merna; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Emanuel (Clara) Smolik of Alma; a sister-in-law, Lillian Smolik of Elkhorn; and a son-in-law, Hal Wilson of Grand Island. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, John; a son, Robert; her daughters, Marianne Wilson and Betty Jo Schneider; a sister, Ellen Bonne; and a brother, Emil Smolik.
