SCOTIA — Iva Marie Williams, 94, of Scotia died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at the Greeley Care Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in North Loup. The Rev. Chris Mattison will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery at North Loup. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the North Loup Seventh Day Baptist Church or the Greeley Care Home. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Williams was born Nov. 13, 1909, south of North Loup to Michael and Iva (Barker) Whalen. Survivors of the immediate family include a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kathleen Williams of Minneapolis; a daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Ray Van Slyke of Scotia; and a brother, Mike Whalen of Inglewood, Calif. Survivors also include six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Mrs. Williams lived most of her early years south of North Loup in the Fussyville neighborhood. She attended Fussyville District 24 school through the tenth grade and then attended Scotia High School. On Nov. 29, 1927, she married Ross Williams at Ord. The couple lived on farms south of North Loup. They later moved to North Loup, where they operated the Williams Oil Company. Iva was a bus driver for North Loup-Scotia School District and also for Lowell Dulitz Bus Service. She and Ross celebrated their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries. Mr. Williams passed away Aug. 3, 1989. Iva later moved to Scotia to be near her daughter. She became a resident of the Greeley Care Home in July of 1999. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ross; two brothers; two sisters; and six stepbrothers and stepsisters.
