Bio
Information from 1992 DAR transcription survey of Oakridge Cemetery. Next to Barnett group. Caroline Barnett is the sister of Thomas J Beemer (1910 Census for Effingham County). Country of birth and occupation physician from Census as well. Illinois Historical, Effingham County Biographical, By Newton Bateman and Paul Selby, Munsell Publishing, 1910. Dr. Louis T. Beemer lived in Teutopolis in the 60's and located in Effingham in 1882. In 1889 he made affidavits that he had practiced medicine ten years previous to the "Medical Practice Act," and was allowed to continue. His "materia medica" consists of preparations from herbs, and he makes no pretensions to scientific acquirements. He is a man of sagicity and good judgement.
