Copied with permission: Shawnee News-Star: October 20, 2006: Longtime Seminole resident J. Wendell Scott, 86, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18. He was born July 4, 1920, in Rattan, Okla., to Carl William and Ida Mae (Brinlee) Scott. He married Aly'ce M. Elisabeth Green on June 22, 1961, in Shawnee. They were married for 45 years. J. Wendell, a longtime Seminole area rancher, ran a dairy farm for many years. He owned and operated a Seminole packing company with his brother until 1963. J. Wendell served during World War II in the U.S. Army, where he was a Tech 5 in the 879th ordinance company. While there he received the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, APT Ribbon and Meritorius Unit Award. He was former president for the Seminole Roundup Club, a Strothers school board member for 12 years, a 32 degree Mason and a lifelong member of the Seminole Masonic Lodge, where he received his 50 year pin. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, J.C. Scott. Survivors include his wife, Aly'ce, of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Laura Susan (Scott) and Kevin Kincade of Seminole and Sheri S. Criswell of Oklahoma City; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Penny Veitenheimer of Cromwell; sister and brother-in-law, Lueetta (Scott) and Amel Darr of Seminole; seven grandchildren, Kendell Kincade, Khanaa Kincade, Khara Elixabeth Suzanne Criswell, Glendon Gouker, Kyle Gouker, Bobbie Vincent and Bill Wright; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends including a very special niece Theresa Patterson of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Terry Newell officiating.
