Daughter of Orrin & Edith (Dickerson) Chaffin. ------------------ Lois Maude Horwart, 89, of Burwell,Nebr. died Fri., Nov. 21, 2003 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, Nebr. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tues., Nov. 25, 2003 at the First Christian Church in Burwell, Nebr. Rev. Rolly Salts officiated. Lois was born Sept. 1, 1914 in Franklin, Nebr. to Orrin and Edith (Dickerson) Chaffin. Lois moved with her parents from Esbon, Kan. to north of Burwell in 1925. She graduated from Havelock High School in Lincoln, Nebr. in 1932. She attended Wesleyan College and received her teaching degree. She married Doyle Horwart in Bartlett, Nebr. Dec. 25, 1935. They lived north of Burwell from 1936 until 1946 when they moved to the south side of Burwell. They farmed and ranched. Lois taught school for 30 years and worked alongside Doyle. While teaching she kept up her certificate by attending Kearney State College. Doyle and Lois moved to the Community Memorial Health Center on. Jan. 23, 2002. Doyle died June 26, 2002. Lois was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the First Christian Church. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. She would bake cookie's whenever Nebraska had a bad game. Lois is survived by two children: Carolyn and Lloyd Guggenmos, Sidney, Nebr. and Doyle Lynn and Janet Horwart, Deshler, Nebr.; nine -grandchildren, 11 great-grand- children and one great-great- grandchild; three brothers;' Jerald and Rita Chaffin, Burwell, Nebr., Gerald and Marilyn Chaffin, Lincoln, Nebr. and Les and Virginia Chaffin, Norfolk, Nebr. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Sandra Kay Scofield; two brothers, Wayne Chaffin and Leland Chaffin, Sr.; one sister, Doris Cass, and one granddaughter; Jean Marie Guggenmos. Burial was in Cottonwood Cemetery, Burwell, Nebr. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church. Deshler Rustler November 26, 2003
