Fort Worth Star Telegram "Roland L. Collins Horticulutrist San Francisco - Roland L. Collins, a horticulturist, died Thursday in San Francisco. He was 37. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Ridglea Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Burial will be in San Francisco. Dr. Collins was born in Fort Worth and lived here until he moved to Dallas in 1980. He moved to San Francisco last year. Dr. Collins was a graduate of Arlington Heights High School, where he was student director of the concert band and orchestra and president of the Science Club. He received a bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctorate in horticulture from Texas A&M University. Dr. Collins also taught at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He was manager of a tree and plant nursery in San Francisco. Survivors: Stepfather and mother, Lindel and Irene Davis of Fort Worth; two sisters, Gwen Showcraft of Fort Worth and Joyce Perry of North Little Rock, Ark.; two stepbrothers; three stepsisters; and grandfather, W. A. Wood of Van."
