Neal Claude Jeter DU 5 Dec 1957 Neal Claude Jeter Dies n Florence Widely Known Banker And Minister Passes Neal Claude Jeter, 74, retired Lawrenceburg banker, died Tuesday at Coffee Memorial hospital, Florence, Ala., after a short illness. Funeral services were conducted at 10 am Thursday at Downtown Church of Christ, E.O. Coffman and Rufus R. Clifford officiated and burial was in Lawrence County Memorial Gardens. North Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. A native of Wayne County, Mr. Jeter was the son of Neal and Elizabeth Tenery Jeter. He had lived in Lawrence County for the past 32 years. For many years, Mr. Jeter was associated with the Commerce Union Bank here in various capacities. He was manager of the local bank at the time of his retirement after 22 years of service. He also was active as a Minister of the Church of Christ and continued in that capacity following his retirement from the bank in 1951. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Viola Morrison Jeter; two sons, Dr. James Jeter, Florence, Ala.; Dr. William Jeter, Lawrenceburg; daughter, Mrs. Frances, McDonnell, Flint, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Turman and Miss Pearl Jeter, Lawrenceburg; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren. He was the son of Neal Sovereign Brown Jeter and Lavinia Elizabeth Tennery. He worked in the banking industry as a cashier. He married Viola M. Morrison (1889-1977), on May 27th, 1909, in Wayne County, Tennessee. A Christian and member of the church of Christ, Brother Jeter taught Bible classes and, on occasion, preached the gospel. He went to his eternal reward in Florence, Alabama, on December 3rd, 1957.
