Bio
Elizabeth W. Turney, 85, of the 900 block of Gene Crescent, died January 1, 1997, in a local hospital. Born in Ostella, Tenn., she was the widow of William M. Turney. She was a school teacher for the Chesapeake Public School System and retired after 22- 1/2 years. She was a member of Deep Creek United Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Susanne T. Rosenbaum of Chesapeake, Bettie T. Lester and Barbara T. Smith, both of Newport News; two sisters, Marene Gugelman of Nashville, Tenn., Annie Ruth Tate, of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Ollice B. Wise of Winchester, Tenn.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Bradford L. Phillips in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Chapel. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park.
