Son Of: Ira Black and Mrs. Leiugenia (Musick) French; Md. Versie Havard Obituary: The Daily Sentinel, Nacogdoches, Texas, July 18, 1988 Loranza Black Funeral for Loranza Black, 77, of Route 6, Box 4200, will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with interment to follow at 1 p.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery in Diboll. Officiating will be Rev. Paul Heuermann, pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and the Rev. Edmond Gray, pastor of Pine Forest Baptist Church. Mr. Black died Tuesday, July 19, in Alto. Born Sept. 11, 1910, in Alto, he was the son of Ira and Leiugenia Musick Black. He was a retired Baptist minister, a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and lived in Nacogdoches the last twenty years. His wife, Versie Havard Black, died in 1978. Surviving are three sons, Joe Vernon Black of Lufkin, John Marshall Black of Mesquite, and Ross Mitchell Black of Mineola; two daughters, Mrs. Jean Wooten of Alto and Mrs. Lorraine DuBose of Diboll; two brothers, Ira French of Diboll and Ervin French of Jasper; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Sirman of Corsicana; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Davy DuBose, Stephen DuBose, Mark DuBose, Clay DuBose, Dan DuBose, and Jon Neeley Black. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Music will be directed by Betty Russell. Memorials may be gifts to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors will be in charge of arrangements.
