Bio
Georgia (Svoboda) Valerian was born August 19, 1926 on a farm in Wallis, Texas. She was the daughter of Clara (Uhyrek) and Mike Svoboda. She attended Guardian Angel Catholic School up to the eighth grade. She would earn her GED later in life. During World War II, Georgia started writing letters to local men overseas and met one soldier, Henry Valerian that would win her heart. They fell in love through the many letters they shared throughout the war. Henry and Georgia Valerian would marry August 12, 1946 and were married 48 years until his passing in 1994. They would have five children, Lawrence, Charlene, Henry, Judith and Patrick. After raising a house full of children, she also worked in the cafeteria at Hudgins Elementary in Fulshear, Texas till she retired. During her free time, she and Henry would dance the night away with the Wallis Dance Club. She was an active member of American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters Court Queen of Angels and the KJZT. On Wednesday nights, she could be found working in the kitchen for Guardian Angel Parish Bingo. At the time of her death, Georgia was 89 years old. She passed away April 25, 2016 in Katy, Texas. Georgia will be reunited in the heavenly kingdom with her husband, Henry; daughter, Charlene; her parents, Mike and Clara Svoboda; brother, Bill Svoboda; and numerous other relatives and friends. She will be lovingly be remembered by her children, Lawrence Valerian and his wife, Joanne, of Fulshear, Henry Valerian and wife, Mary Ann, of Stafford, Judy Zapalac and husband, Ricky, of Orchard, Patrick Valerian and wife, Ann; son-in-law, Richard Brietzke, all from Sugar Land; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Sowa; brother, Henry Joe Svoboda; and two sisters-in-law, Virginia Verm and Irene Svoboda; and two cats, Sheesha and Foophie. Funeral services will be held at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 2610 Demel, Wallis, Texas 77485 on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 10:00 am, with Rev. Thuy Quang Nguyen celebrating the funeral mass and rite of commital. Interment at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Wallis. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Rosary at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, Guardian Angel Catholic Church. Memorials: A-Med Hospice, Houston, TX.
