s/o Ambrose and Martha Jane Holbrook Meade (Ambrose s/o John Wesley and Elizabeth Victoria Dingus Mead III, Elizabeth d/o William H and Lucy G Stallard Dingus, William s/o John and Nancy Compton Dingus, John s/o Philipand Nancy McConnell Dinges/us) KELLY C. MEADE DEFIANCE, OH— Kelly C. Meade, 73, 26615 Jack St., Route 7, died Monday at Laurels of Defiance. He was born July 17, 1923, in Flatwoods, VA, the son of Ambrose and Martha (Holbrook) Meade. In 1951, he married Marie Marcum, who survives. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea. He retired in 1963 as a coal miner and in 1980 from Campbell Soup Co. Also surviving are two sons, Ray and Ralph, both of Defiance; two daughters, Mrs. Billy (Maggie) West of Lewisburg, TN, and Mrs. Lionel (Peggy) Moore, Appalachia, VA; a sister, Doris Sluss, Flatwoods, VA; two brothers, Claude of Charlotte, NC, and Calvin, Flatwoods, VA; six grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Lilymae Hill; and a grandchild. Services were held Thursday, April 17, 1997, at Mast- Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, with burial in the Ayersville Cemetery with VFW Post 3360 conducting military rites. He was a descendant of Scott and Wise county pioneer families of: Holbrook, Meade, Dingus, Stallard, Vicars, Addington, Compton, and Philip and Nancy McConnell Dingus.
