He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on October 21, 1950. His remains were not recovered. Area of Middle Sulphur River, Hunt County, Justice District 6. Private First Class Shreves was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing, Court 6, at the Honolulu Memorial. Jim Chester Shreves His name is also inscribed on the National Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
