Audrey Faye Rainey, 94, was born on November 19, 1921 in Delta County to Turner and Alice (Robnett) Essary. She passed away in Paris on March 30, 2016. She lived in Delta County all her life except for 42 months when she lived in Dallas while her future husband was in England during World War II. When he returned home, they married August 24, 1945. They lived in Dallas six months and then returned to Klondike, built a house, and raised their family at that location. They shared 68 years together. She is survived by her children and spouses: daughter Nelda Reid (David) of Dallas, three sons, Benton Rainey (Iris) of Paris, Gary Rainey (Lisa) of Rockwall, Rodney Rainey (Channon) of Cooper. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Brian, Caitlin, Gage, Jaron, Jason, Timothy, Jackson, and Addison Rainey, Garrison, Meredith, and Susanna Reid, 7 great-grandchildren: Austin Cunningham, Noel, Kate, Ryan, Cannon, Parker, Emma, and Hudson Rainey, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. B. (Buckner) Rainey, in 2014, one son, Jimmy Ray Rainey, in 1966, her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Her roots were deep in the Nazarene church, and she was a member of Bread of Life Nazarene Church in Commerce. She was a woman of quiet faith who read her Bible every night.. As a true matriarch, she guided, directed, and counseled her children and grandchildren even to the end. She was known far and wide for her cooking and baking skills and for the many crocheted afghans she completed for family members. She watched her children and grandchildren play or coach sports for almost 50 years and was proud to have seen two sons coach state championship teams. She also loved watching sports on TV and was an avid supporter of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, April 2, at the Delta Funeral Home in Cooper with visitation from 1:00-3:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow in the New Klondike Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rick Stooksberry, Kenny Stooksberry, Don Essary, Benny Fields, Lanny Rainey, Steve Rainey, and Dennis Maynard.
