BILLY CLYDE ESSARY 87, of Paris, died at 11:50 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2015 at his home. Mr. Essary was born October 14, 1927 in Klondike, Delta County, Texas to Turner and Alice Robnett Essary. He graduated from Klondike High School and received his BS and Master's degrees in Elementary and Secondary Education majoring in History from East Texas Teacher College in Commerce. Mr. Essary served his country in the US Navy Air Force from March 16, 1951 until March 15, 1955. He received a special assignment to the Naval Air Advanced Training Command in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Essary married Mary Nelda Langley on October 15, 1955 in Dallas. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He taught in the Blossom School District for nine years and was a principal, teacher, and coach. In 1958, he coached the Blossom Bulldogs Boys Basketball team to the state championship and was the Texas Sportswriters Coach of the Year. In 1964, he began the Distributive Education Program at Paris High School and in 1973, he became the Superintendent at West Lamar Independent School District which later became Chisum ISD. He retired in 1981. He was in education for 32 years and loved hunting, raising cattle, teaching Sunday school, planting his garden, beekeeping, and above all else, his family. Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years; five children; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Garland and Kenneth Essary; and two sisters, Margie Fields and Ruby Jean Stooksberry. Funeral service are set for 1:30 PM, Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Calvary United Methodist Church with Bro. Buddy Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
