Bio
Roy C. Miles, 101, of Irving, died at 1:58 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Irving. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis with Paston Ric Miles officiating. Burial will be in Bost Hill Cemetery in Irving. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Miles was born on March 5, 1915, in Christian County, a son of the late Charles C. and Mary Lizzora (Abbernathy) Miles. Mr. Miles served in WWII as a member of the Army Air Corps. He married Wilma L. Evrley on May 31, 1951, in Hillsboro, and she survives. A graduate of Ranken Trade School, he was a farmer and school bus driver. He was a member of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the Irving American Legion, Farm Bureau, Polled Hereford Association and the Bost Hill Cemetery Board. Along with his wife, Mr. Miles is survived by a son, Jerry (Patt) Miles of Fillmore; four daughters, Merlyn (Jim) Kunz of Hillsboro, Carolyn (Jim) Tiemann of Litchfield, Janice Miller of Irving and JoAnn (Kevin) Logsdon of Champaign; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Charles A. Miles, Joseph Miles, Harry Miles and Sceva Musser.
