Married first, Feb 10 1941 Grand Island, Hall, NE, Lillian Kirby Married second, Jan 8 1972 Burwell, Garfield, NE, Elsie Dora Hood Dawe -------------------------------------------- Crandall Rites Held in Burwell Merlin (better known as Bud) Crandall was born January 8, 1912 in Holt County, Nebraska to William and Martha Benjamin Crandall, and died November 4, 1981 at the Burwell Community Hospital in Burwell, Nebraska at the age of 69. Bud was raised on a ranch in the Swan Lake area and attended grade school at the Kola School, north of Swan Lake. He was affiliated with the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was baptized in 1925. On February 10, 1941, he was united in marriage to Lillian Kirby at Grand Island. They made their home on a ranch near Swan Lake in Holt County. Lillian died in 1951 and Bud moved to Burwell where he lived with his parents and did carpenter work. On January 8, 1972, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Elsie Dawe at Burwell, where they continued to reside. For the last four years, he had been a resident of the Burwell Nursing Home. Survivors include his wife, Elsie; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson of Burwell and Mrs. Arthur (Gertrude) Kirby of Taylor; four stepchildren, Donald and Kenneth Dawe and Donna Crouch, all of Burwell, and Mrs. Linda Machrill of Cathay, ND; nine step grandchildren; nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Meredith (Bill) Crandall, and one sister, Mrs. Hazel Murphy. Funeral services were held November 7, 1981 at 2 pm at the Fleming Funeral Home in Burwell. Burial was in the Ord City Cemetery. The Ord Quiz - Nov 12 1981, Pg 8, Col 3
