Bernard R. Coop, age 85 of Johnston, Iowa and formerly of the Fairfield community died at his home in Johnston on March 22, 2016. He was born August 27, 1930 in Jefferson County to Raymond M. and Ferne Godwin Coop. He grew up in the Antioch community and was a graduate of Fairfield High School. Bernard married Benna Grace Boley on September 2, 1951 at Hillsboro, Iowa. He was a famer and worked in construction. He served in the Iowa National Guard. A life long resident of Jefferson County until moving to Johnston in 2010. Deceased family members include his parents, 1 brotheer Roger Coop and 1 grandson Matthew Waligora. Surviving are his wife Benna, 5 daughters: Kristin ( Alex) Gonzalez of Des Moines, Kim (Mark) Waligora of New Virginia, Iowa, Becky ( Steve) Mc Intire of of Grimes, Sheri Coop of West Des Moines, Brenda (Jerry) Paulson of Houston, TX and son Jeff (Linda) Coop of Urbandale, Iowa. 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; 1 brother Bruce Coop of Fairfield and 4 sisters: Jo Chambers of Packwood, Sharon Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Colee Hospers of Iowa City and Rose Hendricks of Fairfield.
