Perry Irwin Wallace was born to Joel Hall Wallace and Cynthia Milligan of Morgan County, Alabama. When Perry was a small child, the family moved to Cherokee County, Texas. Perry Irwin Wallace married Eleanor Josephine "Nellie" Cottrell on December 29, 1870 in Cherokee County, Texas. They were the parents of six children - Percy Floyd Wallace, James Herbert Wallace, Joel William Wallace, Maud Wallace Tilley, Perry Benton Wallace, and Pleasant Rutherford Wallace.
