"Elizabeth Smith was born September 27, 1924, near David City, Nebraska to Henry and Bertha(Driver) Stevens. On April 27, 1948, she married Richard J. Smith at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. She lived her entire life in David City, was a mother and homemaker, worked at Jack and Jill for over 20 years and eventually retired. Prior to her marriage, Elizabeth had worked in Omaha sewing military uniforms. She loved quilting, enjoyed cooking for her family and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Elizabeth is survived by her 8 children; Richard (Deborah) Smith, Spring Valley, CA., Dave Smith, David City, Diane Schmid, Agency, Iowa, Demaris Smith, David City, Donald Smith, San Diego, CA, Darlene (Jim) Tannehill, Norfolk, Duane Smith, David City and Dale Smith of Santee, CA., 10 grandchildren; Stephanie (Tommy) Dee, Jason (Stephanie) Schmid, Janelle Schmid, Chad Smith and significant other, Jamie Creps, Briana Smith, Shannon Smith, Dusty Smith and significant other Casey Brandl, Devin Smith, Dillon Tannenhill and Kenny Eaton and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, son-in-law Steven Schmid, ex daughter-in-law, Mary Ostry, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
