Bio

She was the daughter of George and Eva (Pobanz) Lincoln. She married Gordon Reese on Aug. 26, 1948 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton. "Luree was very proud of her Irish heritage, and she would make sure that everyone knew about it with St. Patrick's Day being her favorite holiday." She was survived by 2 daughters, 1 son, 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Doug and spouse Marcella, a brother, Abraham, and a sister, Eva Marie. Luree Reese, 88, died on March 4, 2016 at the Stanton Nursing Home. She was born on August 12, 1927 to George and Eva (Pobanz) Lincoln in Norfolk, NE. She attended Stanton High School and graduated with the class of 1944. She farmed with her parents until she was married. Memorial Services for Gordon and Luree Reese Gordon E. Reese, 92, died on June 27, 2015 at the Stanton Nursing Home. He was born on June 21, 1923 to Alden and Sophia (Jensen) Reese in Stanton, NE. He attended rural schools through the eighth grade, and then worked for area farmers until he went to the service in February 1943, where he served in World War II until November 1945. He spent 19 months aboard the US hospital ship John L Clem in the Mediterranean Sea transporting wounded soldiers. Upon Gordon's return from the military, he married Luree at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton on August 26, 1948. The couple settled at a farm south of Stanton for 38 years until 1986 when they moved into Stanton, where Gordon was employed for the Stanton County Road Department for 17 years and was also on the Weed Board for many years. Gordon loved spending time with family and also was a horse lover, as he and the family went to many horse shows and parades. Gordon was also a skilled woodworker and enjoyed helping family with projects through the years. Gordon was a Life Member of VFW Post #3602 and was also a member of the color guard for many years. Luree worked at the Stanton VFW part time for 15 years where she was also a life member and the longest standing member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was also a member of St. Peter's Altar Society and the Bar "S" Saddle Club, and her hobbies included fishing, horseback riding, spending time with her family, and she was also a proud supporter of Nebraska and Notre Dame football and Stanton sports. Luree was very proud of her Irish heritage and she would make sure that everyone knew about it with St. Patrick's Day being her favorite Holiday. Gordon was survived by his wife Luree of nearly 67 years, their 3 children, 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, Vern (Janice) Reese and Lawrence (Jeanette) Reese of Stanton, and Lester Reese of Gordon, NE, and 1 sister Darlene Bretschneider of Norfolk. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Alvin Reese, and a sister Elvira Froehlich. Luree was preceded in death by her parents, brother Doug and wife Marcella, brother Abraham and sister Eva Marie.
