In Memory of Marcie L. Oliver March 1, 1940 - March 2, 2016 Obituary Marcie Lanell (Miles) Oliver was born March 1, 1940 in Kirvin, Texas and died at her home in Gun Barrel City on March 2, 2016. Marcie was the daughter of Oel O'Neal Miles and Bessie Mae (Back) Miles. On November 24, 1956, at the age of 16, Marcie married the love of her life, Kenneth Jerry Oliver. Ken and Marcie moved to the Cedar Creek Lake area in the 60's. Together they owned and operated Ken's Carpets, and later, Ken's Comfort Zone Air Conditioning. In 1984, Ken and Marcie opened their home for a small group of church people to hold services. By 1985, that church had moved into a new building, which in now Cedar Creek Church in Gun Barrel City. Marcie was very active in the church and also in the Tres Dias program, where she worked for 13 years. Marcie was cared for in her home by some special caregivers, Tina, Robinn, Mary Jo, Sam, Janet and others. Marcie was preceded in death by her parents. Marcie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ken; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Kevin Strickland of Gun Barrel City; her son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Shawnn Oliver; seven grandchildren, Brandon Strickland, Braden Strickland, Bethany Dyson and her husband, Glenn Dyson Jr., Tyson Oliver and his wife, Nicole, and Chelsea Oliver, and her great-grandson, Dexton Dyson. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Cathy Miles of Bonham, sister and brother-in-law, Chris and Keith Howard of Dawson, sister Maxine Moore of Corsicana, sister and brother-in-law, Tommie and Tab Garth of Allen, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Tommie Mooneyham of Canton, Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.
