Phyllis Lane September 4,1934-February 26,2016 Phyllis Lane passed away on February 26, 2016 at the Western Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Scottsbluff, NE. Her funeral service will be March 5,2016 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Phyllis was born September 4, 1934 in Scottsbluff, to Carl and Leatha (Rowlee) Leathers. Phyllis attended Mitchell Public Schools graduating in 1952. She married Gary E. Lane on August 8, 1953 at Bridgeport, NE. Phyllis was a Navy wife and during Gary’s time in the service they lived in Sioux City, IA, Astoria, OR and San Diego, CA. After their retirement from the Navy, Phyllis and Gary made their home back in the valley living in Scottsbluff and Mitchell. Phyllis worked at the local K-Mart and Porter’s. After they sold the Texaco station in Mitchell Phyllis and Gary took to the road in their fifth-wheel camper and saw many parts of the country. They enjoyed meeting new people and living the “snow bird” life for many years. They always returned to western Nebraska, which was their home. Phyllis was a member of Central Church of Christ in Gering and was a past Worthy Matron of Sunflower Lodge #21 of the Eastern Star in Mitchell. Phyllis loved to craft and had taken up knitting again in the past few years. She liked to keep busy and enjoyed the people she met and the activities at the Veteran’s Home. Phyllis was a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She loved spending time with family. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary; sister and brother-in-law Louise and Rod Milligan; brother, Carl Leathers, Jr. and in-laws Bond and Katie Lane.
