Bio
Mrs. Lurena (Hammer) Fulton, 84, of Hubbard, passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at a Waco hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25 at First United Methodist Church of Hubbard with the Rev. Jerry Irvin and the Rev. Tim Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Lurena was born near Hubbard, Texas, one of eight children born to the late Elmer and Ollie (Vosburg) Hammer. She lived all of her life in the New Hope and Hubbard areas and attended school at New Hope for 11 years before graduating from Hubbard High School. Lurena was a hard worker all her life, she picked cotton as a young mother and later worked at Kreditor Manufacturing in Hubbard and at the Mexia State School. She and her family were members of New Hope Methodist Church until it disbanded in the mid-1950's when they moved their membership to First United Methodist Church of Hubbard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Fulton, in 1993; and by brothers, Alfred Hammer, Dan Hammer, Ted Hammer and Lotus Hammer. Survivors include sons, Eugene Fulton and wife, Paulette, of Hubbard, Don Fulton and wife, Lou, of Stephenville, and Harry Dean Fulton and wife, Lois, of Flat; sisters, Pauline Wilson and husband, Edward, of Dallas, and Ruth Snider, of Mount Calm; brother, Glyn Hammer and wife, Nell, of Temple; grandchildren, Amy Sinkule and husband, Troy, of Abbott, Laura Walton, of Hubbard, and Chris Fulton and wife, Linda, of College Station; great-grandchildren, Roland Walton, of Conroe, Christian Fulton, of College Station, Hayden Sinkule, of Abbott, and Emma Fulton, of College Station; and numerous nieces and nephews.
