Bio

Young Services Held At Chapel Hilma E. Young was born in a sod house five miles northwest of North Loup, Nebraska October 5, 1901 to Jacob and Rosalie Soppelsa Shoemaker and died March 11, 1983 at the Valley county Nursing Home at Ord, Nebraska at the age of 81. Hilma grew up on the family homestead and attended rural school at District #64. She was united in marriage to Carl E. Young November 1, 1930 at St. Paul, Nebraska. They made their home on a farm in Greeley County, north of Scotia, from 1932 until 1950 when they moved to a farm north of Ord. They moved from the farm into Ord in 1976. Survivors include her husband, Carl of Ord; one brother, Alfred Shoemaker of North Loup; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Edward Shoemaker. Memorials may be given in her memory to the Bethany Lutheran church in Ord or the Cancer Fund. Funeral services were held Monday, March 14, 1983 at 2 pm at the Ord Memorial Chapel with Rev. A.L.
