Bio

Everett Lee Nelson (ggrandson of W M Nelson) oral history: William Manly Nelson (Willie) died when he was clearing large trees and one crushed him. My grandfather, William Harrison Nelson (Bud) was the oldest son and had to take his fathers place the next fall for the annual "wild hog marking" (think of Old Yellar). Daddy said his father was young, about 8 years old at this time, so that would show that Willie must have died about 1883. He was listed on the 1880 census, and my grandfather was born 1875. Nancy Nelson remarried a man named Herrington, and they are listed on the 1900 census in Clark County Arkansas. I noticed that some family trees have William Manly's date of death as 1911 in Tennessee, so I hope this shows what I believe to be the truth. oral history Name: W. M.
