Other two siblings: John Chovanec 1911-1911 Karel Chovanec 1917-1917 Justina Kristina (Chovanec) Zbranek, age 93, passed away at her home on February 27, 2017. Justina was born, one of thirteen children, at home in Rutersville, TX on October 4, 1923 to John and Julia (Polasek) Chovanec. She was united in marriage with Eddie Zbranek in March 1943. She worked at Mayer’s Dairy Mart in La Grange, TX for 34+ years up to the day the restaurant closed its doors. Her greatest joy in life was taking care of her great-grandsons since birth and watching almost every single one of their baseball and basketball games and cross-country and track meets. She was even able to attend a couple of her great-grandson’s college baseball games in Austin, Texas. Justina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and siblings, Zigmund Chovanec, Raymond Chovanec, Kristina Muesse, Frank Chovanec, Ben Chovanec, Adolph Chovanec, Albina Chovanec, Sophie Kaspar and 4 infant siblings. Justina is survived by daughters, Betty Bartek and Delores Wood, and husband Donald, all of La Grange, Texas. Two sisters-in-law, Felicia Chovanec and Ruth Chovanec of La Grange. Three granddaughters, Brigette Bertsch and Mike Dungen, of Columbus, TX; Gail Cain, and husband Brandon, of Houston, TX; and, Jill Jacobson, and husband Randy, of Georgetown, TX. Three grandsons Duane Bartek, Michael Bartek and Edward Faldyn, all of La Grange. Seven great-grandsons, Ryan Bertsch and his girlfriend, Sydney Coffey; Connor Bertsch, Derek Bertsch, Dillon Bartek, Jonathan Cain, Benjamin Cain & William Cain and step-greatgrandchildren Julie & Justin Jacobson. She also leaves behind her beloved pet dachshund, Lucy. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and a private service will be held for her immediate family with burial in the La Grange City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter in La Grange, TX or to the Fayetteville Athletic Booster Club at Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville, TX.
