Funeral Rites Held For Carrie VanSlyke Funeral services for Mrs. Jasper (Carrie J.) VanSlyke, 76, a longtime resident of Ord who died Friday after an illness of six weeks, were held Monday afternoon at the Ord Methodist Church, the Rev. C. Jeppesen officiating. Pallbearers were Carl Hansen, Pete Duda, Pete Rassmussen, Albert Clausen, Mike Bower and Chris Hansen. Doyle Dickey, accompanied by Doris Perry, was the soloist. Burial was in Ord City Cemetery and the Hastings-Pearson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. VanSlyke was born Dec. 19, 1884, at Wynot to Casper and Maria Worm. Baptized in the Danish Lutheran Church, she married Jasper N. VanSlyke March 22, 1911, at Grand Island and after their marriage they moved to a farm near Ord. For the past two and a half years they have made their home in town. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Mable Philbrick of Ord, Mrs. Muriel Bartholomew of Taylor and Mrs. Mavis Booth of LaGrande, Ore.; one son, Vernon of Ord; three brothers, William Worm of Ord, Jess Worm of Wolbach and Mrs. Steve Beran of Ord; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
