Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Smith Funeral Home for Mrs. Mary Cook who passed away at Clarinda Wednesday morning. The services were conducted by Miss Bonnie Lee Miller of the Church of God and burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery beside her husband. Mary Cook, daughter of John and Elizabeth Clipston, passed away at Clarinda, Iowa, August 31st, 1938, at the age of 76 years and seven months. She was born in North Hampton, England, February 22, 1862. She came to America with her mother at the age of three years, her father and brother arriving the year before. They made their home in Illinois for several years, later moving to Shenandoah, Iowa where she grew to womanhood. At the age of eighteen she was married to George Cook. To this union four children were born, G. F. Cook and Mrs. Maud Clark, of Grand Island, Mrs. George Packard and J. V. Cook of Albion. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, John Clipston of Albion and Joe and Fannie Clipston of Shenandoah, Iowa. She leaves to mourn her departure her four children, eight grandchildren,, two brothers, Jim Clipston of Albion and Will Clipston of Loup City, and a host of friends. She was loved by all who knew her and was always patient and kind in her years of sickness. (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – September 8, 1938)
