Bio
Charles Joseph Neuendorff, 93, of Columbus, Texas passed away on December 22, 2015 in Columbus. He was born on August 19, 1922 to Leander Peter and Emily (Bock) Neuendorff in Bernardo, TX on what is now a Texas Century Ranch. On May 15, 1951 he married Anita Jasek. Charles was a local building contractor and a rancher, running cattle with his son until he was 90. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, the N.R.A., and Texas Sportsman Association. During World War II, he served in the Army - European Theater. He was awarded a Purple Heart as well as two bronze stars. Charles is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anita Neuendorff of Columbus, TX; daughter, Linda Ann Nitschke and husband Allan of Highlands, TX; son, Thomas Leander Neuendorff and wife Kimberly of Fayetteville, TX; brothers, Weldon Neuendorff of Brenham, TX, and Virgil Neuendorff and wife Rose of League City, TX; 4 grandchildren, Jeffery Nitschke and wife Sonia, Jessie Neuendorff, Emma Neuendorff, and Charles D. Neuendorff; and 2 great grandchildren, David Nitschke and Olivia Nitschke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leander Peter Neuendorff and Emily (Bock) Neuendorff, an infant daughter, Deborah Kay Neuendorff, and sisters, Viola Hoppe and Eunice Kickler. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, and Monday from 8:00 am - 10:00 am at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. A Parish Prayer Service & Rosary will be Sunday at 6:00 pm at Henneke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015, 10:00 am at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus with Deacon Robert Jasek officiating. Burial with military honors by the US Army will take place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus. Pallbearers are Thomas Neuendorff, Charles D. Neuendorff, Jeff Nitschke, Marvin Neuendorff, Thomas Wostarek, and Matthew Neuendorff. Honorary pallbearers are Paula Buchala and Keith Eric Neuendorff. Memorials are suggested to the St. Anthony Catholic Church, P.O. Box 669, Columbus, TX 78934; or charity of your choice.
