Bio

George M. Merritt was born November 18, 1902 at Valparaiso, Nebraska to Jay M. & Emma Vanscoy Merritt. He grew up at Valparaiso and received his education. He married Ethel Lambert June 12, 1929 at Lincoln. They had three sons. Ethel died November 30, 1933. He married Vera King at Lincoln on August 4, 1938. He worked for the Telephone Company in Lincoln until 1946 when they moved to Arcadia. They farmed until 1974 when they retired and moved into town. George died August 13, 1991 at the Sandhills Manor in Broken Bow. He was 88 years old.
