Funeral services for Murel Velton White, Sr. will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Gardner Baptist Church, Gardner, Louisiana with the Reverend Wayne Hedrick and Reverend Donald Shove. Interment will follow in the John C. White Cemetery in the Providence Community under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville. Murel Velton White, Sr., age 77 of Elmer, entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at his residence. Murel was a member of Gardner Baptist Church. He served his country proudly as a U.S. Army Veteran. He was retired from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture as the auto body supervisor. Murel enjoyed hunting, gardening and cooking. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and telling old tales. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Lorene White. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Wilda White of Elmer; daughter, Deanna "Dena" White of Elmer; sons, Murel "Woody" White, Jr. (Cassie) of Elmer and Robert A. "Bob" White (Denise) of Elmer; sister, Arlene Page of DeRidder; brothers, Kermit White of Rosepine and Marlee White (Bonita) of DeRidder; and six grandchildren, Garett, Victoria, Austin, Waylon, Landon and Baylie. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Gardner Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until time of the service.
