Funeral services for Bernard Joe Melnar, 79, of Wallis, will be held at Guardian Angel Church on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Thuy Quang Nguyen celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal. He passed away peacefully Saturday, December 19, 2015, while being hospitalized in Richmond, TX. Bernard was born July 1, 1936 to Alphonse J. and Mary Stavinoha Melnar of Wallis. He attended Guardian Angel Catholic School and graduated from Wallis High School in 1955. He married Joan Orsak on June 25, 1960 and together had one son, Bernard (Benjie) Louis Melnar. Bernard loved woodworking, fishing, and listening to polka music on the radio. He was employed by WKM in Missouri City Texas, and retired after 32 years of continuous service. He and wife, Joan, owned and operated the Kiddie Korral Day Care in Wallis. Bernard was a member of Guardian Angel Parish, and a member of the KJT. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, and wife, as well as his brother, Alphonse W. Melnar, and sister, Mildred Janik, both of Wallis. He was survived by two sisters, Georgia Wren of Alvin and Helen Ondruch of Wallis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers attending Bernard are Robbie Melnar, Terry Melnar, Wayne Nowak, Jerry Allen Ondruch, Chris Janik, and Jerry Joe Drabek. He will be laid to rest with our Lord at the Guardian Angel Parish Cemetery in Wallis.
