Bio
Wendell Griffith, 89, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and end just before service time at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2015, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Steve Cowart will officiate. Interment will follow the services in Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney, TX. Wendell was born in Walnut Springs, Texas, and grew up in that area. He moved to Waco where he met and married Kathryn Louise Haynes. He moved to Teague in 1956 and worked as the area milkman for Pure Milk Co. based in Waco. Wendell moved to Fort Worth in 1973 to work in the construction business, then returned to Teague to stay in 1987 when he went to work for Watkins Construction Co. in Corsicana until his retirement in 2000. He loved football and chewing tobacco and enjoyed his frequent visits at mealtime to the Senior Citizens Center. Wendell was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 61 years, Kathryn in 2008; son, Mike Griffith; and three brothers. Survivors include his daughter, Pam Jordan and husband, S. B., of Teague; grandchildren: April Hedrick and husband, Warren, of Cotton Gin, Aaron Griffith and wife, Staci, of Teague, Brandy Kerr and husband, Jason, of Teague, Jaime Hardy and husband, Tim, of Bryan, and Slade Jordan and wife, Jenna, of Waxahachie; great-grandchildren: Kendal Griffith, Reid Krenk, Kassidy Griffith, Lukas Hardy, Jakob Hardy, Jacye Hardy, Kathryn Jean Kerr, and Silas Jordan; sisters: Joyce Dennis and Jean Blackwell, both of Waco, and Ruby Jane Rogers, of Fort Worth; daughter-in-law, Ruby Jan Campbell, of Fairfield; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
