LOUP CITY – Ernest L. “Ernie” Kuszak, 84, of Loup City died Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. The Revs. Marty Egging and Mike McDermott will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with a 6 p.m. vigil service and Knights of Columbus rosary. He was united in marriage to Marge A. Hurt on Sept. 28, 1954, at Rockville. He is survived by his wife, Marge, of Loup City; three children and their spouses, Marcia and Randy Ksionzek of Lincoln, Don and Sue Kuszak of Lincoln and Cheryl and Kevin Holcomb of Loup City; and a brother, Harry Kuszak of Loup City. He also leaves to cherish his memory seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. As a young boy, Ernie attended Sherman County rural schools. Upon completing his education, he farmed with his family. After he and Marge were married, they lived, raised their family and farmed north of Loup City, near Sherman Dam. In 1983, they moved into Loup City, where they owned and operated Fisherman’s Bar for several years. Ernie then began working as a crew chief for Central Nebraska Community Services. He was forced to retire in 1988, after he had a stroke and heart problems. He was a member of St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church and a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 5455 of Loup City. Ernie was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In recent years, his constant companions were his and Marge’s beloved dogs, Polly and Annie. He and Marge loved to go to polka dances. He also loved playing cards, visiting, and most of all his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Dominic, Louis, Ben, Clemence and Edwin Kuszak; and a sister, Lordine Budzinski. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice. -Courtesy of Grand Island Independent-
