Daughter of Henry Leslie Rumery of Fremont County, Iowa and Medora Blanche Runyan of Custer County, Nebraska. Wife of Irwin Joseph Doane of North Loup, Valley County, Nebraska, married on 02 June 1927 in Mason City, Custer County, Nebraska. "Iola Blanche Rumery Doane, 96, formerly of Mason City and North Platte, died December 31, 2003 at Heritage Hall. She was born February 12, 1907, to Henry L. and Blanche Runyan-Rumery near Mason City. The family lived in the Mason City area except for four years spent in Thomas County. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1925. During the summer of 1926, she attended Grand Island College. On June 2, 1927, she married Irwin Doane. They made their home on a farm north of Mason City until 1940, when he began his work with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This required several moves in the State of Nebraska. She taught school in Custer and Cedar Counties. While living in David City she was employed in the office of the Banner-Press where she worked for six years. Mrs. Doane was a member of First Baptist Church in North Platte, and active in the work of the American Baptist Women's Ministries, and her church circle. She was also a member of Signet Chapter No. 55, Order of Eastern Star and a member of the past matrons club. She was also a member of the Eight O'Clock Aquasize class for several years. She moved to Broken Bow in 1998 to be closer to family. She then became a member of the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow. Survivors include two sons, Bruce of Mason City and Roger (Patty) of Alamosa, Colorado; a daughter-in-law, Doris Doane of Lincoln; a son-in-law, Richard Kathol of Hays, Kansas.; a brother, Glen Rumery of Knoxville, Tennessee.; 14 grandchildren; five step-granddaughters; 15 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and special family members, Joan and John Rohde. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 2, 1992; a daughter, LaVonne Kathol on Jan. 7, 1993; a son, Hartley Doane on June 2, 2003; her parents; two sisters; four brothers; and a great-grandson. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Churches in Broken Bow, North Platte or Mason City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with Charles Gregory officiating. Burial will be in the Mason City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday with the family present to receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow."
