Bio

Helen Louise (Jacobsen) Koch of Shickley, Nebraska departed this life to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 9, 2015 at Heritage Crossings in Geneva, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 5 months, and 29 days. She was born on June 11, 1923 at Lillian, Nebraska, the 2nd child of John & Gladys (Johnson) Jacobsen. Helen attended school at Gates and in the Arnold, Nebraska area. She graduated in 1941 from Arnold Public Schools. She was baptized at the Lillian Christian Church. Helen attended Capitol Beauty School in Omaha in 1943. Helen married Kenneth Koch of Shickley on August 19, 1944 at the New Castle Army Air Force Base in Wilmington, Delaware. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage. After Kenneth was discharged, they moved back and lived on the family farm north of Shickley. She was a beautician, working farm wife, and loving mother. She enjoyed sewing, tatting, cross stitching, and quilting. Helen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, Shickley Legion Auxiliary Post 164, and the Fillmore County Hospital Auxiliary in Geneva. Helen was preceded in death by an infant daughter Kathy Karma; husband Kenneth; parents John and Gladys Jacobsen; and brother Harold Jacobsen. She is survived by 3 children: Keith and Cristy Koch, Kurt and Susan Koch and Kay and Robert Marshall; 10 grandchildren: Kari and David Bahe, Kelli and John Reilly, Kimberly and Lucas Dart, K. Kory and Jamie Koch; Karl Koch, Kent and Kacey Koch, Anna and Matt Serbousek, Leah and Derrick Richards, Jill and Tony Woodruff, Pamela and Arnaud Adam; 19 great grandchildren: Kelsey and Nathan Bahe, Cole, Cohen and Emma Reilly, Nolan, Lydia, and Morgan Dart, Lauryn and Kyler Koch, Scarlett, Eleanor and Vivian Koch, Benjamin and Evan Serbousek, Luke, Kayla and Paige Woodruff, Lote Kornete, Latvia; sister Pauline Landreth; brothers Harry and Doris Jacobsen, Paul Jacobsen, Loren and Cleo Jacobsen; and host of relatives and friends. Funeral services for Helen will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Shickley, Nebraska. Pastor James Moll will officiate the services. Following the funeral, there will be a graveside service in the Shickley Public Cemetery.
