Madison Courier---August 28, 2006 Richard A. Bone, 74, of Hanover died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky. He was born July 9, 1932, in Encino, Texas, the son of Richard and Mary Ann Klieber Bone. He worked for the Jefferson County Highway Department for four years and had retired in June 1998 after 30 years with the Indiana Department of Transportation, where he was a master at running heavy equipment. He was a member of Hanover Christian Church and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He loved the outdoors, and always had a well-groomed lawn and helped his neighbors with theirs. He enjoyed woodworking and watching his great-grandson. He was an avid fan of the news and sports channels on television. He is survived by his wife, Mary Acker Bone, whom he married Feb. 24, 1956; one daughter, Becky Payton of Hanover; one sister, Mary Ann Preston of Corpus Christi, Texas; one brother, James Bone of Moxie City, Wash.; one granddaughter; one grandson; one great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Henry "Pee-Wee" Bone and John Charles "Chico" Bone. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Vail-Holt Funeral Home Hanover Chapel. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the service. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hanover Christian Church. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
