Alvin Albert Mikes, 88, of Fayetteville, Texas passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Oaklawn Manor in Giddings, Texas. Alvin was born in Oldenburg, Texas on July 30, 1927, the son of Frank and Millie (Kaspar) Mikes. He married Shirley Heintschel. Alvin was a long time farmer and rancher and in his later years he worked for Kleiber Tractor & Equipment for ten years before his retirement. He is survived by three nephews: Gary Rausl of Fayetteville; Jimmie Rausl and wife, Mae, of La Grange; and Bobby Rausl of La Grange. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; brother, Oswald Mikes and sister, Hilda Rausl. Visitation will be held at Koenig & Strickland Knesek Chapel in Fayetteville. Family will receive friends and a rosary will be recited. Funeral Services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 205 E. Bell St., Fayetteville, Texas. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, P. O. Box 57, Fayetteville, TX 78940.
