Fay Sanders Fay Sanders, 97, of Sweetwater died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, in the Nolan Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in the Cate-Spender and Trent Funeral Home chapel in Sweetwater with Joe Bagby officiating. Burial will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery. Fay was born on June 15, 1907, near Sweetwater. She was the daughter of the late Carroll and Ruby Montgomery Sanders. She was the granddaughter of John C. Montgomery, who was the first sheriff of Nolan County. She was a longtime member of the Fourth and Elm Church of Christ. She was the author of a book on the genealogy of the Montgomery, Williams and Menefee families. Survivors include two nephews, Jack W. Butts III of Palm Coast, Fla., and Richard Butts and wife, Sharon, of Sweetwater; one niece, Linda Gayle Anderson of Reno, Nev., and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Elton Sanders, and one sister, Evelyn Butts. Pallbearers will be Jerry Riggs, Jim Wilks, Arthur M. Bixler, Tolbert Janes, Bob Summers and James Holloman.
