FRANK ALBERT PETRU, born July 6, 1918 in Shiner, TX, went home to the Lord May 21, 2010. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, his spiritual journey began with his parents and was strengthened by 3 ordained brothers. Frank spent his childhood in Corpus Christi and Raymondville, TX, and volunteered for the Army before World War II. He married his wife of 57 years, Tillie Kremel, in 1941, made their first home in Baton Rouge, LA and moved to Houston in 1949.Frank retired from Rice University in 1986. He was an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Community and a founding member of the Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist. Frank was proud of his Czech heritage and danced his way through life. He was an avid gardener and cultivated beautiful roses. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Johanna Petru, his wife Tillie, daughter Loretta, 4 brothers and 1 sister, and is survived by his children, James and wife Janis, Jeanette Cook and husband Howard, Mike and wife Mary Ann; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, May 24, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10330 Hillcroft.A Mass of Resurrection will also be celebrated at St. Thomas More, 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 25, 2010, with burial to follow at Forest Park Lawndale.
