Bio

On November 8, 2015 the world lost a valiant man – Max Grantham Christiansen, born April 19, 1932 to Byron and LaVerne Christiansen in American Fork, Utah at his grandmother's home. At 1-week old, Max's parents took him home to his beloved childhood home – Cherry Creek, Nevada where he completed grades 1-6 in a one-room school house. Max returned every chance he got to Cherry Creek to pick pine nuts, hunt, visit friends and make his happy memories. In 1949 Max married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Shambow and in 1954 moved his young family to Salt Lake City. Max and Ruth had seven children: Cathy Lynn (Steve) Allred; Keri Lee Stankevitz; Rodney Max and family; Neils Peter (Elizabeth); Lizette (Jeris) Baker; John Phillip (MarKay); Charles Andrew "Andy" and family and Max's very large posterity – 57 grandchildren, 95 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. In 1967, Max went to work as the Executive Director for the Sheet Metal Air Conditioning National Association ("SMACNA") in Las Vegas, Nevada where he served for the next 33 years. In 1976 Max married Lynne Potter and became a father and friend to her children: Debbie, Judy, Julie and Mark. Max and Lynne parted in 2013. Max's viewing will be held on Friday, November 13th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Max's funeral will be Saturday, November 14th at 11 a.m. both at the Summerfield Stake Center located at 3113 West 13400 South, Riverton, Utah. Max's Interment will be at the Tooele City Cemetery. See more about Max online at: www.broomheadfuneralhome.com.
