Bio
Dorothy A. Schaefer, 91, died Saturday, December 15th, 2012 at her home after a short illness. She was born in Fayette County, September 17th, 1921, the daughter of Elo and Lydia Tietjen. She married Frank H. Schaefer November 16th, 1941 in Rutersville. They had a very special relationship with almost 60 years of marriage until his death in 2001. Dorothy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Rutersville and enjoyed seeing her church friends as often as she could. She fulfilled many roles throughout her lifetime -- caregiver,homemaker, seamstress, crocheter, gardener, friend, loving wife,mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt who was thoughtful,thankful, joyful, appreciative, and a blessing to all who met and knew her. With her smile and quiet, cheerful spirit, she has fulfilled her mission of looking after others and inspiring them with her walk in faith, believing that anything is possible with God, hard work, and determination. Survivors include her daughter Susan and husband Gary Schultz of Pleasanton, her son Jim and wife Mildred Schaefer of Spicewood. She is also survived by three grandsons -- Kevin, Rustan, and Keith, and five great grandchildren -- Kylie, Jack, Mitchell, Allyson, and Chase; one sister Clara Wessels, numerous nieces, nephews, and many special friends. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 PM, Monday December 17, 2012 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville. Above information from Fayette Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory website.
