VERNON, Texas - Joe Cyril Vanek, 82, died Friday at his home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Oran Key, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. Vanek was born May 22, 1904, in Hill County, Texas, and had lived here since 1906. He and Rosie Sypara [sic] were married in 1933 in Penelope, Texas. He was a retired farmer and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Survivors include a daughter; a son; a sister; four granddaughters; a step-granddaughter; and a step-grandson.
